GM, Dex-cool, failing vehicles, and you.

Place to talk about all that new hardware and decaying software you have.

Hmm, my 2004 Impala falls under this, but I have never had any problems with it. Guess I will have to remember this if I do though.

The Dex Cool in these vehicles is much less of a problem if you have it changed out early. From the information I've read, it only really starts causing problems late in it's life.

It seems if you've gotten it changed out early enough (say 60,000- 80,000 miles) you should be fine. You shouldn't have to change it out so early, but I probably would to be on the safe side. My dad had a Lumina effected by this a few years back. Pretty ugly situation. I can't remember the details now, but I do remember the sludge and leaks.

Yes, maintaning your maintenance free system too early mileage wise

but the age mileage you posted is appropriate for the age.
