Favorite tetris version...

Yeah, another lame topic.

So you all know Tetris, and aside from a few changes it's pretty much always the same basic concept. So it's all in the little details and execution of the game that makes them different.

So what's your favored -well known or completely obscure, Tetris version?


1- Gameboy Tetris (The first one often bundled with the system) I think it's a common favorite too.

2- Atari Tetris for the arcade. Objectively better than the gameboy version I guess.

3- "Nintendo" Tetris for Nes.

4- "Tengen" Tetris version for nes.



Notable mention for "AcidTetris" for PC (dos) mostly for it's soundtrack.

This version on an oscilloscope seem to allow you to perform "chains". Never really seen that rule variation before.

I've seen chains used in Tetris DS. It's only in the touch mode though.

Hmm, I'm not much of a Tetris player but I guess the one Tetris I have played the most is the SNES port.

I much prefer the kind of puzzle games that are in the same vein as Tetris, but different. For instance;

-The puzzle Kombat mode in Mortal Kombat Deception
-Bust-A-Move for the SNES
-Bust-A-Move 2 for the Gameboy

Oh and I once had a demo of Devil Dice for the Playstation which was a fairly kickass puzzle game.

Original doesn't seem to mean a lot when talking about Tetris.

Tetris for Gameboy, because it has the best music and because I love Type B (which keeps track of how many singles, doubles, triples, and tetrises you make).

Tengen Tetris for NES because it has co-op multiplayer.

tetris version i like is Tetris on NES version (i forgot its proper name though).
the gameplay was standard nothing special,
but what i like is how the game display the "sliced" tetris block.

for example, L-block placed vertical and form a double-line, the game will represent the remain of L-block as a 1:2 rectangle block, not as 1x2 square blocks.
most newer tetris game usualy chose the later for its (simplistic) graphics drawing.

Although I'm not sure just WHO came up with the name "Tetris Attack", it 'does' have "Tetris" in it's name heh.

Hey, I wonder if the Russuian guy, the creator of Tetris was paid loyalties for Tetris Attack, since the copyright of the name "Tetris" is likely his (I know he originally didn't get royalties for the game (i.e: didn't get rich iow) under the ex Soviet Union)...that would have been funny considering like you said the game doesn't have anything to do with Tetris, save for the title.





And what the heck: while we're there I'm gonna add "Meteos" for DS...Nothing to do with Tetris, but it's kind of a spiritual successor to "Tetris Attack".

I think I've heard of Tetris Attack for the GB, but that hardly counts as has been said in this thread already.

Pokemon puzzle league = Tetris Attack

and of course theres tetris DX for GB color and original tetris for gameboy.

Also, tetris attack is known as panel de pon in Japan.
