Cropping to 16:9

Post by clessoulis »

Hey I have a video thats 576x432 full frame 4:3.

What would I need to crop it down to for it to be in 16:9?

Is there any easy program that will tell me this?

I think its 576x324.

If it's 4:3 fullscreen, rather than keeping the horizontal res and reducing the vertical res(thus producing quality loss - people will lose their heads), why don't you letterbox to aspect ratio it to 16:9? That would produce an 768x432 image, with black bars at the sides, but at least you keep the image intact.

The whole point is remastering it into widescreen.

Im using

Vdub
Vdub Mod
TmpegEnc Xpress 4
PSP
PS

Right now I need something that can batch convert .bmp, .jpg to a different size. I need to convert 21968 raw jpeg frames from. 576x324 to 1920x1080. Then save them all with the same name in a different folder.

^^^ Yes, you just need to find which resampling is the best to your pics. Particularly I don't like Lanczos - no blur but too much noise.

Cool beans guys. Im gonna have to find better source materal for what im remastering so I've gotta go out and buy it on dvd. I've been praticing easy frames and and praticing general animation. Some stuff is so hard to edit frame by frame its easier to just redo it :P

Plus this pc doesnt have Photoshop installed so its time cosuming playing around in paint.
