Who would you guys suggest for good hosting

Post by Panzer88 »

I already have bought my domain name but I was wondering who would be a good group to get hosting from. I'm very green about this but would like to try some web design as a hobby. Thanks again.

dreamhost is very good.
Does [Kevin] Smith masturbate with steel wool too?

- Yes, but don’t change the subject.

You get what you pay for. How much are you looking to spend per month?

well, at this current time not very much. What is the general spectrum like? Later I might want to upgrade when I can afford it.

I have been quite pleased with Hostgator. Pretty good service and price, I find.

They also seem to toss me free account upgrades like candy. The joys of SSL.

I'd be the first to admit that the front page doesn't look good with the unlimited crap, and I can't blame anyone for that. When I bought in it was a tad more reasonable. My service hasn't degraded though, so...

My host is suso.org. Very small two-person operation local to my town. I know the guy who founded it. Very linux savvy. Ran the network division of the main ISP in town for 5+ years.

Because it's a small company, the prices are reasonable and the support is excellent.

I have switched hosting companies four times since starting my first website in 1998. I moved to suso in 2001 and have never looked back.

Is there anything wrong with Bluehost? My friends use Bluehost... and it's great... unless there's something terribly wrong with it that others can attest to. There usually is something like that for everything, though. :(
