Video editing software (for Youtube)?

I have a video that I want to upload to Youtube. However, when the video has uploaded and been processed on the site, the audio plays too fast and not in time with the video - completely ruining it.

The video is in .asf format, which may make this awkward. The video otherwise plays absolutely fine in media players such as VLC. I've tried converting the video to a couple of different formats with VLC as a shot in the dark, but the same thing happens.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Iirc FLVs aren't transmofucked by youtube's upload service

No idea what can convert to it, though.

You guys are the best. I used an Open Source program called Quick Media Converter to do the job in the end. Thanks!
