the point is still valid. cameras are getting really cheap. 10 MP used to only be for professionals, but i have one, and i don't even take pictures.

phone cameras are stepping up, as well. my phone still only does vga, though. it might go up to 1280x960, but it still looks like butt.

it's more about the lens than the megapixels.
