Mac Help

Post by Starman Ghost »

Long story short my friends mac screwed up and he lost all his files. I told him I'm gonna help him recover him, but I have some questions as I've never really used a mac before.

1. What file system does mac use?

2. Can a mac read a fat formatted usb key?

3. What's a good mac file recovery program(free or otherwise)?

Thanks

Mac uses HFS+. Linux can read this but not write to it (you can force it but it pretty much destroys it.). Macs can read FAT formatted USB keys and I can't help you with recovery software but wikipedia could probably at least get you a list of software.
