Hi. Are the UK PAL SNES controllers compatible with the Super Smartjoy USB adapter? Will they work on my computer? I live in the US. I'm asking because I've read that the UK controllers only work with the UK SNES systems.
Frankly I don't know what that guy is talking about, I've never heard about any snes controller incompatibilities, and I can't find any info that would hint to it. Either way, you don't have to worry about using a european controller with the smartjoy, I use it myself.

Could've sworn I heard one other report of EU controllers being incompatible with US/JP consoles. But I can't confirm.
(though I can confirm JP controllers work on a US system)
If a US controller works, yes.
Though I believe official SFC controllers have a really short cord (if I remember the measurement, it was like 3 feet vs. 8 feet).
Not sure if that'd be a concern on a PC, though.
I have a PAL controller and will test it on my SFC. I can also confirm the SFC controllers are REALLY short. When I plugged in my SFC for the first time recently, I went to grab the controller and I nearly yanked the console off the shelf. I was like, "WTF?? 3 feet??"

It's just a friggen controller... there's absolutely no need to regionalize it.
To be fair.... Sega DID region-lock the Dreamcast's gun. 3rd-party guns worked no matter the region, but the official Sega-branded gun wasn't US DC-compatible.
Damn media circuses. Fucking House of the Dead wasn't going to cause any school shootings.
they weren't tucked in with the vcr, they were pulled out and placed on the floor in the middle of the room
gamecube is actually the same way. unless you had a wavebird
Or an extension cord.
*waves hand*
Dreamcast has pretty short controller cables too.
But yeah.... it's either a collision of japanese VS western tastes, or someone failing to learn the lessons of the Atari era.
It should be noted that games were considered adult entertainment back then, but controller cables were still very short. So it's not because games are toys so much as someone thinks you want the console in easy reach while you play.
Which made sense on the 2600, where you needed the console buttons to play... except when you had 4 people trying to play a paddle game and not enough room for them.
