except the briefing/victory/lose scenes, every tune is changed. They may be familiar enough that you can't remember them as clearly as you'd expect.

No such thing as CD-quality MP3. MP3 is a lossy compression format, and a not-very-high-quality one at that.

Vote for me, and I will ban 128-kbit music files.

VBR MP3 with 192kbps minimum, thanks.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

At proper sample rates and frequencies.
PCM is too(usually seen inside a wave file, but coincidentally also the way the data is stored on an audio CD).

I should've said "insert your favorite compression here". God forbid I am to be taken literally when I just want good audio. :P

lol wasted bits. V0 should be sufficient for anyone. If not, go lossless.

I don't like artifacts in my music or narrowed frequency/dynamic range, so I prefer lossless. I always try to get the best available quality, but I won't complain much if mp3 has at least 192kbps cbr. Using vbr, q0.95 aac (Nero) for iPod (shuffle first gen, no lossless support except wav).

Ahhh, well then I'll lower my standards.

Sometimes I can get overzealous.

You have to remember that this is for the public to download. I know that the RC was released for MSDN and was leaked out days ago.

It would be really nice to have the checksums for the English builds.

using it(the RC)(x64)
10 times faster than XP x32(in general response time)
can't get used to control panel and stuff because I'm way too used to XP's one(never touched vista)

i like it so far!
it pretty much awesome, except punkbuster doesn't work...

I'm using it now.

I am amused that MS has STILL not disabled the old Win3.1 control menu in the top-left corner of every window. Including the base Explorer windows that have no icon up there.

Spoilers: Double-click the top-left corner for a SUPER-SEKRIT EASTER EGG!

Anyone that comes back griping at me is a total noob.

it's necessary to manipulate windows (move/resize/minimize/maximize/restore) with the keyboard alone. yay for alt-space-m/s/n/x/r!
Why yes, my shift key *IS* broken.

They've considered Windows a mouse-required interface since 1995.

And there's no reason to maintain the double-click-to-close functionality other than my personal amusement every time I convince someone to try it. :P
(Actually, I use that functionality, depending on which side of the window my cursor is closer to.)

windows "best practice" is still to have every app fully navigable by keyboard, whether or not most users actually make use of that functionality.

i use the abovementioned menu constantly, for minimize/maximize/restore via keyboard.

If you want the old control panel, open CP and just click on "view by:" and change it to something else.
