SliTaz 'cooking' is very nice (DSL done right), but I find this baby even more interesting:

no need for that, apparently while I was searching for the cooking version of NASM, I happened to stumble on their mirror site at:

http://mirror.slitaz.org/packages/
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

There's a new distro in town with compiling support:

Tiny Core Linux :)

A very new Linux distro that's 2.5 times (!) smaller than SliTaz (LOL) and comes with a full compiling environment provided as packages (tiny core extensions).

http://www.tinycorelinux.com/

They have NASM,GCC and everything else:

http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... x/tce.html

Only 10MB - Amazing!

Thanks a lot kick. I've been looking for some low bloat distro for a while and this seems perfect. I'll be giving this a try in VMWare soon.

The creator of DSL (Robert Shingledecker) wasn't satisfied with the bloated piece of crap DSL was,so he used used all the expertise he had with DSL to create this wonder totally from scratch.
Tiny Core Linux is the most amazing mini distro ever :D

The only distro smaller than this is the floppy based BasicLinux (ships on 2 floppies)
But BasicLinux is not something you'll want to use (it uses an ancient 2.2 kernel)

EDIT: MicroCore Linux rocks! (see next post)

There's something even better:

MicroCore Linux - extremely tiny: 7 MB (LOL)

Has all the features of Tiny Core Linux, minus the X desktop (CLI only)

The best distro for compiling stuff :)
