I don't know if it is worth watching avatar for the cgi alone, you can tell the story from the trailer alone.

And it is also 3 hours!

I haven't seen the movie yet, but from the trailers, human Sigourney Weaver looks almost identical to her role in Ghostbusters.

You are not - you can easily guess everything scenario-wise after something like 10 minutes and the minor events along the way are phoned accross a half-hour before they happen, but hey, sexy blue giant ripley !

I'm also the type to sit and read a book for hours/play a game for days, so 3 hours is not exactly what i'd call long.

I might go see it if someone gets me a cinema ticket for xmas.
I don't think I can sit through an entire move just for the eye candy anymore (retarded superhero flicks), so I hope the other elements are at least somewhat worthwhile.
