I've been playing Dragon Quest IX lately. It is pure Dragon Quest, with a Dragon Quest III style of party creation. Apparently the game isn't even out yet in Australia, lucky I picked it up before I left Canada.

it's marvel, unless you were making some kind of play.

monkey island: SE (360)
FFXIII (PS3) - i wanted it on 360 initially, but it's visually inferior by quite a bit, which was sad.
Dragon Quest IX
Picross 3D

i'll resume fallout3 after getting the platinum in FF.

it's actually quite fun to play. not the best FF i've played, but that's a tough scale to grade against. as far as jrpg's go lately, it ranks right up there. note, i don't get much into jsrpg's (sj?).

I had this thought when I first started it, but it had got incredibly old by the ending at the 45 hour mark, and I was left with absolutely no inclination to do any of the post-game stuff.

I really think it is unfortunate that they included Gran Pulse in the actual game. It works so much better as an after-quest place. No real story progression takes place there, but you must spend 10-15 hours doing side quests in order to have a chance to reach the final chapters. In fact, I think they should have skipped from chapter 8 directly to chapter 11 to not break of the flow of the story. That is the biggest flaw in the game.

my conclusion on super mario galaxy 2:

easy stuff is even easier than smg1
hard stuff is harder than smg1 but there's way less of the stupid frustrating stuff (like the "get all purple coins navigating with blue grabstars while dodging boos" one)

2 stars gave me >1 hour worth of retries (but still, lives everywhere, so no real game over).
1- that fucking perfect run
2- GS1 in rock storm (GS2 is way, way easier)

If you liked the first, grab that one too.

Still playing DQ9. This game is loooooong. I'm about 26 hours in, and I bet I am not even halfway done the game. I've only unlocked one extra class, for instance. At least when you can see the enemies on the map, it makes for better selective grinding, as you can see where those metal medley enemies pop up.

after this, we should get something to eat.

i had it for my modded 360, great diversion when you want to play something, but not think too hard.

still FFXIII. i have arrived in gran pulse. my issue with modern rpg's are that grinding isn't an extra thing. it's required. all i can kill are wolves and imps. anything else ruins me. and the leveling is slow.

i don't hate it yet.

i'll be startring prototype soon. i enjoyed that game, and recently re-acquired it on the cheap.

Finished Xenosaga Episode III. What a great ending, and quite emotional at that.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?

I've always wondered what Namco Bandai has against Europe and the PAL region in general (during the PSX/PS2 era anyway). None of their RPG titles have ever been released here, save for that oddball choice of Xenosaga Episode II, and only because [supposedly] Sony put their foot down and more or less threatened Namco with something -- and even then the conversion wasn't done by Namco but Sony themselves.
