I finally got around to writing articles again. Today, I wrote an article on the prototype, Little Magic. Of note is that Aeon Genesis did a translation five years before the English prototype was found.

you've got duplicate images showing the differences between the game regions, specifically the tutorial comparison is listed twice as is the intro.

The repeat images are for comparing the prototype with the Aeon Genesis translation. Technically, he could have broken the layout and used three columns instead.

I'm not ambitious enough to add in such code.

Nice article again sir. :) SNES Central has grown into quite the site since its beginnings. It's really a fine and unique collection of SNES history and information unavailable anywhere else. Your personal touch shows through as a labor of love and we thank you for it. :)

Thanks Nightcrawler. I think it is of utmost importance to preserve things like unreleased games. For example, one of the people I emailed for Fireteam Rogue said he lost a lot of stuff on the game in a hard drive crash several years ago. At least we have the two alphas to show what the game was like.

Alright, new article up, about a prototype of Battle Blaze. This crappy fighting game has an interesting connection to F-Zero:

Why is it that it took until Soul Blade for someone to make a decent medieval sword tournament fighter game? Interesting article nonetheless.

Up today is Zoop. Let me tell you, the experience I gained from hacking this was far more satisfying than actually playing the game.

I posted on another forum about how I could attract more of a community to SNES Central. One of the big comments was that a lot of people didn't like my site design. This is the first time I have heard complaints about that. That said, I am thinking of changing the style of the links on the left navigation bar, any suggestions on a direction I should go?

It turns out the DKC is just a corrupt version of the DKC competition cart, and the mystery tiles are from Super Metroid.

You can also find Super Metroid sounds in the Donkey Kong Country ROM, when you extract them with SNESSOR95.

I.S.T.: lots of romdiving

They probably used metroid as a howto base for a couple things and overwrote most of it with their own stuff, leaving unaffected spots with original data.

The Nintendo logo from Super Metroid is also in the DKC CC. If I were to guess, the whole CC thing may have been some early test build of DKC.
