Planescape Torment
This is one of those games I missed out on the first time around. Good Old Games just released Planescape for $10, so I finally picked up a copy and started playing it. I've got a few nub questions.
Where's the best place to store your items? Do they ever disappear if you put them in a chest or a container?
Beyond identifying, how can I tell what items are worth keeping (or secretly a port key) and what's junk/ok to discard or sell?
Is it possible to purchase more than one of particular item at a time? (Guessing no, but I've seen a lot of games with unintuitive interfaces before)
Some people on the Interwebs are saying to play mage for max fun and don't worry about strength because the combat is meh. Is that the consensus here? If you do that, how do you go about bashing chests etc? Does Annah work well for this, or do you need to become a thief yourself?
Any other recommendations for enjoying the game?

I haven't played this in about 5 years or so...so it's not that fresh in my mind. I do remember I went here for info when I did play it. Without dragging it out again I can't be more specific.
I also highly recommend the mods: Qwinn's Fixpack and Unfinished Business on top of the current patch. These two mods make the game all the more enjoyable.
I played as a warrior because: SPOILER! you can gain access to really good mage later in the game. SPOILER!
Other than that, that's all I can remember from when I played. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Re: Planescape Torment
I played, and finished it, 2 times without knowing anything you're asking about, except:
To have the most fun, you should not focus on any combat char - be it fighter, mage or thief; rather, put 18 in Wis, 18 in INT and 12 in CHA. When given opportunity, pump WIS.
This is a diplomatic game first and foremost, and you do not really need to grind-fight except for select fights you want, and there are team-mates for that (the brawn part of the game).
But as for dialogue, you are in for a TREAT, if you play with 18 or more WIS (need high WIS to pass checks for EXTENDED dialogue options), and are patient.
The writing is seriously really really good.
