Top Gear 2 bug

Post by dratg »

Zsnesw version 1.40

I can't play a 2 players game in Top Gear 2, zsnes shows a black screen but 1 player game works fine. (zsnesw 1.36 don't have this bug).

PS: the checksum of my rom is OK.

I already reported this in the official bug topic, but I guess nothing was fixed.

It works in the 2003-08-11 build. It is broken in the 2003-08-19 build.

Ipher's changelog:

Code: Select all

8/19/03
Updated IPS code. Now supports RLE, should fix problems if the ROM is expanded, and automatically view the ROM with a header. [Nach]
Removed obsolete hack [pagefault]
Added Visual Studio project, needs more work and clean up [pagefault]
Updated Super FX chipsram settings [Nach]
H-IRQ fix for many games [pagefault]

Triage is fun, as long as I don't have to do too much of it. :P

Boy, we should find this stuff out for every bug if it makes it that much easier to fix.

I just began to use Zsnes, and this game is one of my favourites...
I'm glad to know this bug has been fixed, but, when can we expect a downloadable version with this fix?

I am thinking that it is already downloadable. You would probably have to compile the latest source. not sure, though. It should be included in a future wip. Just keep an eye out here and on Zophar.net. And ipherswipsite.com

I know what it means. When I asked for a "downloadable version" in my first post, I really meant an "official release", since I didn't know WIP versions could be downloaded.
But I'll try it anyway... If it works, I'll use it until next official version is released.

Always use WIPs instead of official releases. Unless an official release came after a WIP release.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

No, always use the official release unless the WIP fixes something you wanted fixed. Remember, the official releases are (usually) pretty stable and are faster than the WIP versions.

Really? Ok then, but I'm not going to heed your advice.

Well, if you always want the "latest and greatest" to test, use the WIPs, we can always use more testers. But for regular people, the official release is better, since we know its stable, and nothing major is broken in it.
