Remember that AM2R is actually a well made fan game! Well, except for the inclusion of "shine spark" tricks for certain items.
Another Metroid 2 Remake is a well-made fan game that feels just like a GBA Metroid game, and I mean no disrespect to DoctorM64's work, BUT...

It is a fucking TERRIBLE adaptation of Metroid 2 that misses the entire goddamn point of the game, and I wish ANY of the other remakes his unintentionally-ironic title refers to had survived so there was a slight chance of people playing something that wasn't shitting all over one of my favorite games(since it had been made abundantly clear years before AM2R released that no one is ever going to play the original in a post-Super world).

Let me be bottom-line this: as a Metroid 2 replacement, AM2R is worse than garbage, it is the equivalent of smearing feces across the Mona Lisa and calling it an improvement. It has negative value to a Metroid 2 fan, the world is objectively a worse place for AM2R's existence, and I will never ever willingly play it ever again.
BUT as bad as AM2R was as a Return of Samus remake, it is lightyears better than Nintendo's official remake was.

And I've been playing Audioshield in my Rift. Shockingly, so has my mom. She has probably played it more than I have lately.

I just want to note that this, and the ensuing "spambot" nonsense that followed, was perhaps my finest hour.

US release of...
SUPER.
ROBOT.
WARS.

I have no idea how Bandamco sorted the licensing out.

replaying KH3 on Critical Mode for the first time since I initially played the game right after release.

regular combat is far less forgiving than it is in 2FM Critical.

Dread is phenomenal; I interrupted my KH main series replay for my first go-through. Once KH3 is done, I'll likely be doing the pair of replays to get the sub-4 Normal and Hard rewards.

picked up Actraiser Renaissance on sale - found it enjoyable, but probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much without the nostalgia factor.

No, but I started Mechwarrior 5.
...
Turns out I am REALLY bad at Mechwarrior.

i platinumed the original but have never played multiplayer. monsoon + glass + sacrifice + command is my usual run, and i'll loop levels until either i get bored and go kill Providence or get too overenthusiastic with things that cause particle effects and crash the game.

just fired up the second one for the first time since the Steam early access days a week or two ago - still feels like RoR, although I don't know any of the maps yet and needing to keep the camera on a constant swivel makes the game much harder.

i made it to (what i think was) the final boss playing on Easy; i had a solid build and had had no real issues with the previous stages, but in his third (fourth?) phase he absolutely splattered me in two hits.

Funny cause I played ror1 after 2, and I found ror1 way harder when I first started because when you get swarmed you have nowhere to run due to its 2D nature, as opposed to ror2 which lets you escape in any direction. I guess it's just what you're used to.

Mythrix phase 4 (3? Don't worry nobody knows what to call it lol) is a tricky one indeed, if you plan to fight him (you don't have to - you can loop, or end the game in several other ways) you have to kind of plan ahead because he'll use all your items against you in the final phase. The safest strategy for a beginner is just hiding behind a pillar and taking pop shots at him whenever he's not firing. You'll slowly get your items back one or two at a time as you do damage, and the fight will cascade in your favor extremely quickly once you start regaining your arsenal and he starts losing his. The phase is intended to be more of a fun/scary gimmick to end on rather than a long fight.

Is it any good? I only played Mechwarrior 2 on the PSX, it was one of my first games for the console and of course as a kid with not a lot of games I played the shit out of it, so I have some fond memories of the series at least.

It seems cool?
My prior experience with the series consists of once renting the Super Nintendo game from Blockbuster.

The fans seem to love it enough to bitch endlessly about how terrible toe developer is, based on the Steam(tm) forums.

So having finally gotten a chance to upgrade my video card (about the time I decided it was due, buttcoin prices spiked, and then there was a plague, and prices have just come back from the stratosphere), I decided it was time to quit playing with modern PC games and start EMULATING THE JAGUAR.

I don't know. My brain is as trashy as Jaguar emulation, where the best option is an unofficial translation hack for a closed-source russian emulator that PROBABLY isn't malware. But I can play Tempest 2000!... mostly. My CPU lags hard on the title screen and game over screen and some warp transitions.
...
Wait a second, I own the MS-DOS and Win95 versions of this game, why am I using an emulator?!?!

The answer, as is often the case, is "because I'm an idiot, that's why".
