CPU usage

Post by user222 »

Why does the newest version of ZSNES (1.42) use 100% CPU when in the menu and less CPU usage when you're in a game, (if you don't use VSYNC and other extra options)?

I was on the site and understood nothing. What is a "WIP" all about?

"Work In Progress". It's some sort of beta version, but stable enough for a release.

Click onto the "ZSNES" link to the left, then "Current WIPs". To the right there'll be links for the Windows version, the DOS version and the source code.

WIPs contain improvements over the official releases. If you check the Zsnes changelog on my site, you'll notice that there was a steady stream of WIP builds between the 1.36 version and the 1.40 version.

The devs didn't just lay low during those ~2 years.
