What browser do you use?

Post by soulmata »

Well?

If you use more than once, just choose whichever one you use most often.

And, if you can, tell us all WHY you use said browser over other browsers.

Myself, I use firefox.

Why? Because it's easier to emerge than any other browser and has more plugins available.

Mozilla Firefox. It's simply great.

Firefox. Because I got fed up with IE. Because I used to use Mozilla way back in the beta days before they got tabbed browsing. Because some time around Mozilla 1.3 I gave Firewhatever a shot, and while kind of buggy, it was a lot faster.

Ironically, the Mozilla 1.8 beta is faster than Firefox and requires less memory. It's too bad they're cancelling it.

Opera is also pretty good, but I've run across several rendering bugs in my web development which keep me away from now.

KHTML is a good engine, but there needs to be a seperate, specialized app for web browsing instead of having everything integrated in with the file manager. It's convenient sometimes, but other times it makes me scream. It also needs some sort of extension mechanism, and the equivalent of AdBlock and the Web Developer Toolbar, at the very least.

I used to always use IE, but then I ran Firefox one day, and was like "Dude... things look more roomier and such!" and "Downloads are more efficient!".. I remember times on IE where I would download stuff, and when it wasn't 100% complete, the fuckin browser assumed it was and it said download complete. That annoyed me. :x
On Linux, I use FF as well, but until I can get the java working properly, I use Konqueror for my Java needs.
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

Firefox, a lot less pop-ups, although some sites throw one once in a while. I feel it faster than IE, and a lot safer.

Firefox, and here's why, in no particular order:
1) fewer security holes (this includes spyware negation)
2) more frequent updates than IE
3) tabbed browsing
4) legally free
5) no flash player unless you install one(yes, this is a good thing to me)
6) better quicklinks, and a google/amazon/ebay/dictionary/yahoo search box
7) ability to look at the Page Info, that will tell you all the links, all images, flash files, embedded videos, ect on the page, as well as a direct link to the page if the URL bar is disabled
8) not nearly as many popups

I think thats more than enough justification for anyone

I primarily use firefox, for reasons already mentioned. I only use IE if there's a specific reason that firefox will not work.

I use Firefox, as the reasons mentioned above. But in small cases, I'll use IE.

I use the Fox because
1) The Fox is my favourite strip club.
2) My Favourite radio station
3) The reasons everyone else uses it

Mostly 3. 8)

I use Konqueror because I [strike] am too lazy[/strike] haven't gotten around to/had time to emerge firefox.

I usually use Mozilla for my day-to-day browsing, and IE in emergencies. On my laptop, I use Firefox. Mozilla is a little bit more mature browser, but firefox is a nice quick download.

I guess it's just me that uses Internet Explorer exclusively.

To be honest, I've never gotten spyware/adware or viruses using it, my pop-up blocker has not yet failed to block a pop-up, and it suits my needs just fine.

I use Mozilla because I enjoy the integrated suite. I have a POP3 account and being an internet user back in the day when Netscape was really popular, I got accustomed to netscape mail and the general broswer layout.

It really is a no brainer for me.

1.) I liked Netscape and Mozilla is netscape not sucking.
2.) No ActiveX support which accounts for many problems in IE
3.) Less targetted for attacks than IE thus *appearing* more secure.
4.) Mozilla actually cares about standards! Proper CSS support and transparent PNG loading anyone?
5.) Faster than IE and superior cache loading for frequently visited sites.
6.) The first with Popup blocking and tabbed browsing.
7.) I like to go against the trend.. The trend is Firefox.. I prefer Mozilla. I can still be unique and not be a dumbass for using a crappier browser.

Firefox... once you learn to whore the middle mouse button (or scrollwheel) to launch links in new tabs/close tabs, you'll wonder how you lived without it.

And because about:config > you. :D

That is the main reason I used Mozilla when i had internet acess on my home pc. Also, Mozilla is better for Dial-up, seeing as it loads information on a page as soon as it recieves it, inlike IE, which loads up only a bbit ata a time. For example, on this board, the messages would not display until IE recieved the html code for EVERY MESSAGE. Then it would display them all. With Mozilla, they'd show up straight away.

I use Mozilla, because i like it a bit better than firefox. I don't like the download basket.

I don't use IE, because it's from Microsoft. Nuff said.
