When ever I try to configure the controller/resolution/sound anything it freezes. No error messages or anything it just freezs. Ive tried using a differnet version or zsnes, differnet DirectX, different drivers. nothing worked. This is the first time its ever happened.

Try editing the settings in the config file, maybe that will help.

Does it work with the keyboard?

Post in the Controller Help forum for help on configuring your gamepad.

Yes, and for the other question, No I cant use the keyboard. It freezes, as in nothing happens, the mouse wont move and I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del out of it.

Back WIP versions, or back official releases?

I think I had this problem, my WIP's stopped working, but v1.36 worked fine.

Freezing ZSNES...

Post by PFUNK »

Whenever ZSNES freezes on me, I usually ALT+TAB out of ZSNES (into a folder or AIM window or anything) and ALT+TAB back into ZSNES and it's fine again. This might be a possible solution.

Ill try that. Nope that doesnt work. It just fux0rs the screen up. Makes it a jumble of colors with a ZSNES box.

I have the same problem. I know that zsnes worked fine before I reformatted. I've tried the latest official version as well as the most recent wip.

I have XP Home, a P4, Geforce FX 5600 and a SB Audigy.

Looks like both of you use nvidia cards, have you tried updating your drivers?

Unplug that gamepad and configure your keyboard.

Then reconnect the gamepad and center your throttle.

Yeah, I do have the latest drivers. I wasn't using a gamepad, just the keyboard, but I did have a USB joystick (X45). I unplugged it and everything worked fine.

That's because the input device that you unplugged had a throttle that was not centered, thus confusing ZSNES' input configuration dialog. Perfectly centering the throttle should allow you to use your gamepad properly too.

I have a controller that you have to disable rumble on it or zsnes would get all confused.

Haven't tried it recently. Think it's a Logitech Wingman, but I don't use it anymore since I got my SuperRetroPad. It thought all the buttons were the same if rumble was on.
