Getting kicked back to desktop

I feel like a complete maroon for asking since I probably passed this issue on the readme, but... Whenever I try to start ZSNES, I get kicked back out to my desktop. The gui doesn't show up, but the program is running. This doesn't happen all of the time, either, but more often than not. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance

Delete the emu's configuration files and try again.

Are you using the latest official version of ZSNES?

Yup, I am using the latest v1.42. I deleted the config file, so now I'm just trying to figure out the best setup. I have a P4 3 ghz 512 mb ram 17 in LCD flat panel running 1152x864. Any suggestions? Thanks again in advance. Thanks again for everyone's help.

technically, the latest version is the May 19th WIP (Work In Progress), which can be found at http://www.ipherswipsite.com/zsnes/ or through the link in my signature. Not sure if this will fix anything, but it's worth a shot. Ipher's WIP Site is where the fairly stable builds go when the ZSNES developers want to show their progress, but don't deem the build worthy of being called the next version (in this case, 1.43).
