i find that the tunes of national anthems whose origins were in wartime (the french, the chinese, the american) are much more catchy than those written during peacetime and for artistic merit (although the canadian one is not that bad thought)

edit: forget what i said about the american anthem, it seems the tune was based off an earlier english song.
