Report #2, stereo settings ARE saved. The problem is ZSNES upon load ignores what the config file has to say about it.
What about Report #2.5—the volume changing with shortcut keys not saving?
That might be intentional. Even so I'm not going to jump to fix it, because the volume control keyboard code is a nightmare. (Well, it's not on my todo list for now)

1.40 Bugs

Post by Dumahim »

A Crashing Menu Solution!!!!

If Zsneswv1.40 crushs when the main menu should open by Esc or a click (after a rom is loaded !), it is probably because the *.srm is set read only (Properties). :(
But the savestates (zs*) can stay read only :)
Maybe some people think is has annother reason and got angry.

misc:
It can't start all Version of Tales of Phantasia patched by Dejaps Patch (Version 1.2 FINAL) but wich I can in 1.36
Top_gd7u.ips - Patch for interleaved rom (upper case 8x8 font) runs in 1.36 but not in 1.40
Top_gd7l.ips - Patch for interleaved rom (lower case 8x8 font) runs in 1.36 and 1.40
lower case 8x8 font runs in 1.36 and 1.40 but upper case 8x8 font not in 1.40
(1.36 and also the previous Versions :zsneswv1.31br1.04, zsneswv1.337r1.06)

everything else seems ok on 1.40.

I just went from the upper part of the fair to the lower part.

BTW. I was testing some other games and everytime the music is supposed to change, it doesn't in fact, the music stays at the same note :?

Edit: I tried deleting the user files, just remembered that I had tried to use "Disable SPC emulation" and "Sound Buffering", maybe you could look into those options.

That looks a lot like the bug at the end of the illusion of gaia intro when the tower gets messed up.

Are any of these bugs fixable? There sure are a lot and it seems like most of them have been around a while now (like years).

prio 9

Post by xkaliboor »

i got a couple of problems on my hand ^^; maybe priority 9 here...

i'll start from the beginnign i guess..
ok, problem one...
whenever i try to play the game "Star Ocean (English Translation)" on v1.36, all i see are blocks.. and most of the times, normal text... here's an image of it
Image
any suggestions? my friend sent me the rom.. she says it works fine for her... she also sent me her zsnesw.cfg file to see if it fixed anything - nothing changed... at all.. not a sausage...

problem 2:
then i tried to upgrade to v1.40...
this is what it looks like, no matter what rom i try to run.. it even looks like this withOUT any roms
Image
what do i do on this case?
this is my basic system hardware info:
its a sony vaio: 512 ddr sdram, win xp home edition [altho i prefer pro edition...], cpu is 2.66ghz intel pentium 4, geforce4 64mb graphics card........... directx 9.0 is installed... anythign else?

sry but i dont know how to get the [edit here]...

If you see blocks in ZSNES versions prior to 1.40 is because you don't have the graphic packs for S-DD1 decompression. 1.40 does this automatically, so the packs aren't needed.

Did you do a clean install of 1.40 to a separate directory? If i remember correctly, some people had similar problems in the past.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

All I can say is make sure you are using the Windows version of ZSNES and make sure you have the latest video drivers.

It won't work in v1.36 without gfx packs. But why bother with v1.36? It's old, v1.40 is much better.
