You have to be kidding me. Firefox's memory leaks max out around 70 MB on my system, whereas I have seen Opera take up more than 150 MB. It is absolutely horrible (although Opera's benefits certainly make it worth using over Firefox).MisterJones wrote:Opera eats less memory that firefox ever will navigating the same amount of pages with pictures.Metatron wrote:...You're joking. That makes Opera look like it eats no memory.franpa wrote:just having this page and agn forums open eats up 62mb of ram.
mozilla firefox 2.0 is now finally availible.

I see. I'll keep that in mind.Aaron wrote:Firefox does not "leak" memory..snkcube wrote:So they might've fixed those memory leaks?
i have to agree with badinsults... when it exceeds 71.5mb it drops back below 70mb.
(this is with 8 webpages open)
aargh... it just keeps changing its now around 73mb... thus i think there still is a memory leak as it is increasing still...

8 tabs uses 50 - 80mb of ram... it constantly fluctuates... maybe the high ram use at the moment is related to debugging stuff in these beta's/wips/RC's

I'm still using Firefox 1.5.0.7. I swear something has been fixed since I last closely monitored memory useage(two or three minor versions before 1.5.0.7).
I used to see up to 90mb after using the net for a few hour on many tabs. So far this week, I haven't seen anything beyond 70 as you guys are seeing in RC2. In fact, with 4 tabls open now, it's only at 37megs.
I never use plugins here at work. I'd have to assume some bugs were patched up. That makes me happy. I have previously ranted how Firefox ate up MORE memory than Mozilla. However, it appears this may finally be set right.![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

There's a time warp in some people's minds... or it could be a messed up time/space distortion ripping the fabric of the space-time contiunum...funkyass wrote:the firefox team lead lives in New Zealand.franpa wrote:lol, yep just installed it and it looks like it is but im still not 100% sure... anyways the date says yesterdayso it wasnt released today...
I'm sure the time zone is affecting some people's minds though...

I like it. the only complaint I have about the new version is that you now close tabs by clicking on an X positioned ON the tab, rather than to the right of the screen, and the GO button is now to the right of the address bar. But I guess I'll get used to it.

It has more to do with better usage of space, plus to make tabs behave more like Opera (it is better behavior IMO, but that's because I use it primarily atm).Oskar_Hanberg wrote:I like it. the only complaint I have about the new version is that you now close tabs by clicking on an X positioned ON the tab, rather than to the right of the screen, and the GO button is now to the right of the address bar.
