I found a missing string for the translation, "select folder", from the path settings.

And I also found a minor GUI bug, the unsupported chip dialog will keep showing on all loads until you close bsnes, even if the game being loaded doesn't have such a chip. Once you have tried to load such a game once that is.

Yeah, no big deal either way.
I found a missing string for the translation, "select folder", from the path settings.
Yeah, those are embedded inside the GUI library, hiro. I'll have to expose the ability to override the defaults. I've been wanting to do that anyway, to say things such as "Select <ROM/Save RAM/Cheat> Folder" and such.

Yeah, I noticed that - I intended to do more work on it before, but I've been setting up my new PC. Do you think we should translate Reset at all? What about 'Load Special'?

Based on bsnes v0.031 WIP11, I've pretty much done the Dutch (v1.04) translation:

Some words were pretty tricky to translate, but I've tried to be as accurate as possible. Maybe someone likes to review it though.

Well, so long as you guys are native speakers ... just get something similar. I took a lot of liberties with the Japanese one.

Eg, "Load Special" can just be "Load Other(s)", "Load Custom", "Load Alternative(s)", etc. Basically just need to convey the underlying intention is all.

And I'll need to add those file open/folder select strings to the locale.cfg file, too. Hoping that will be the last of it.
The only problem I can see with this is that someone could delete the bsnes cfg as a way to return everything to default
Well, yeah, but we can't get everything we want. It's at least now possible to do things any way you want, so long as you read the manual.

Only other thing I could think of would be to rename bsnes.cfg to bsnes.dll, so that people would be afraid to delete it.

I'd really rather not default to the folder bsnes is in. It's "much" harder to create the .bsnes folder and make files there for the multi-user setup, and then you'd have to do that for every single user. Yeah, because you know dozens of people run bsnes on the same PC :P

One question though, does Dutch not have umlauts and accent marks? You're free to use those, if you like. Or maybe they're there and it's my fontset acting screwy ... this PC doesn't even have Japanese fonts :/

Essentially, a TV's gamma is much darker than a PC's. The "Gamma Ramp" option will try and simulate this. In essence, it makes lower-ranged colors darker, which makes things look a lot less washed out.

You can call it something like "TV Gamma," or if you have room, "TV Gamma Simulation."

The controls don't auto-size, so I can't do much about really long strings.
It has, yes. I didn't have to use it though for the translation, as far as I can see.
Ah, so they're just not as common as in some other languages. Very cool!

I looked at the "Select Folder" text in the folder select window.

The text doesn't even show up at all in GTK+, and you can't (easily) override the "Browse For Folder" and "Open File" messages (which I assume is so they can be localized internally by Windows.)

I'm just going to remove the text, at least for v032. It doesn't really serve much of a purpose as it stands. This way, I won't have to post yet another locale.cfg file for everyone to update to.

I started working with the Finnish translation today, and it turned out to be really difficult. We don't have a "standard" computer vocabulary here, I mean it took much time to figure out a translation which doesn't sound totally awkward. Hardest words to translate so far are Reset, Power Cycle and Load Special stuff. I think Reset could be left intact like someone already mentioned.

I understand that this whole localisation stuff isn't completed yet, but byuu, you really should add an independent line for every button text and such in every window, menu etc. For example I translated Default into "Oletuspolku" (which means Default Path) in Path Settings Dialog, and then "Oletuspolku" popped up in the Advanced dialog in place of Default. So please don't recycle the lines too much.

Also as a native speaker, I think "Stromschalter" would be a better choice.

Hmmm... well, I think "Netzschalter" might sound a little better, as I'm a native German speaker, as well. Stromschalter sounds a little... well... awkward, in my opinion.
