Sound Crackling

Post by Dalx »

SPEC

Sound: X-Fi Titanium series PCI-E
MB: Asus Striker II Extreme
Video Card: 9800GX2
RAM: 4GB DDR3 Corsair
HD: Raid0 Double Velociraptor

Using Zsnes 1.51

I tried 2 games currently (Super Punch-Out and Final Fantasy 4)

Whenever i use any interpolation sounds (Gaussian , Cubic , 8-Points) i get little crackling with the music. Any Help would be appreciate...

All I can think at the moment is to tweak the sound acceleration on your hardware and see if that helps (though, I'm not sure if that's even available on Vista).

I'd say the the sound card is the problem though.. IIRC, there was a similarly reported problem by another X-Fi user. Search the board if you want to find out.

Have you tried using ALchemy with ZSNES?

@Deathlike2: It has been boiled down to a check box I think, I can't remember but its there. Under the last tab of a sound device properties window.

Have you tried setting the duration down to about 5 in ALchemy for ZSNES?

It's what I have set because I had the same issue. If it works, leave it alone. If you still have some crackling try increasing it slowly up (since 5 is the min.) Also you can try adding more buffers, but I'm not sure if that will help in this situation.

Try updating your BIOS. I've heard there are some problems with X-Fi cards on certain motherboards.
Try out CCleaner and other free software at Piriform
