Windows Internet Connection Sharing

Post by Kampy »

Hay guise,

Im using ZSNES 142n. I cant use internet play. PPL cant connect to me and I cant connect to them. It just does nothing. Not even a "cant connect" it just says that its trying to connect. (fwoff) Well I read that windows internet connection sharing is a problem and my internet connection is probably using that so I read about ICS configuration, but I have no clue where to get it (link was down- well I might google it somewhere) but the more important question would be what to do with it as I dont have a clue. Does internet play work with that?

Any computer under ICS will have difficulty working unless you know how to open the ports by adding key registry entries. It is easier to get the computer that's hosting the ICS connection to connect to others.

On the other hand, trying to get netplay working with dialup is guarenteed trip through futility.

well, my internet is run by a server so I cant possibly do without ICS. But I dont have a clue how do that registry stuff. Is there a good alternative to ZSNES perhaps that works with ICS?

Unlikely, given how ICS is essentially the "poor man's limited router". You could try Hamachi to set up the connection between computers, but that's just adding overhead to a connection... and I'm not sure if that'll even work in the first place.

There's no true workaround other than tweaking the registry of the computer hosting the ICS connection.

Try Hamachi as I said to create a "VPN tunnel" for which you could attempt a connection.. if that doesn't work, you don't really have any good options since the issues you have go far past what any netplay capable emu normally has to deal with.

Well thanks. I will try that. I hope you will solve that problem with newer versions. It seriously cant be that hard. I mean all other games work why wouldnt it be possible to get this emulator to work right?

You didn't read what I wrote. This issue is not ZSNES specific.. this issue will plague you with other netplay capable emus.
