Oh I know you can do SHADING, it's just that every attempt at shading I've seen in such images tends to be... sharp, you know? Sharply delineated. It just looks weird to see people try to vector things that have no need for vectors.

Going to bed now.

Here is my alteration to one that someone else posted. I took a web 2.0 style and came up with this.

What's up with the aliasing on the edges? Other than that, I think it looks really good.

I really like the 3D look to it, and that curved highlight color on the top part.

But A) could you use the second version with the straightened-out b? And B) it's really really jagged along the edges ... any way to avoid that?

Also really like the reflection, however it'd take up too much space. The reason the b stem is so ridiculously short is to minimize excess space.
behold, I bring.. alternates!
Thank you for being the first person to follow my requests for where the cut out spaces on the b, n and e should be :)

Great Scott, that's a lot of versions. I can't tell whether I like the 4th or the 6th one best, but that font is sweet.

Requesting vector image that doesn't seem flat and underdetailed for what it's depicting. That's not a logo or simple emblem like a flag.

In Re vectorized logos:
Metatron wrote:It just looks weird to see people try to vector things that have no need for vectors.
You're so right. I mean who on earth would ever need to create a logo as a vector. It's not like it's something you would want to be able to display at multiple sizes with no loss in image quality due to artifacts when scaling a rasterized image. In fact, you can resize raster images perfectly, and nothing at all fuzzes around the edges. Everyone knows that no one ever supplies vector versions of their logos.

God, I feel like such a newfag. Thanks for teaching me what I'm doing. I bet that guy who made hq4x feels like a dipshit after this revelation.

I've seen many good logos here, but there is a problem I see in all of them:
Now, I'm correct in assuming that they would fit inside the GUI, right? If so, then a large majority of the logos here are too large. They need to be shrunk a bit.

It would be extremely dumb to not make a very large version first if it's raster.

I think what Haneda means is that it's pointless to SHOW a larger version than what's needed here. And unless this thing has other uses, a single version made at around 250x125 isn't all that dumb.

Nope, not impressed.

The only reason it looks good here is because of it being thumbnailed, and colors blending as a result of whatever resizer was used. Clicking on it for fullsize makes it less impressive.

Also, by the way, there's a distinct reason I said above 'except logos' when I asked for an image. So your second diatribe is idiotic, I was not contesting its usage for simple logos. The quote was a general observation... which applies to something like that cat. I'd argue it'd be every bit as good if not better without vectoring.

Good try though. You get a silver star sticker.

1. All sophisticated vector display routines includes some form of blending. It's standard in everything except gecko. Even Nautilus will blend SVG images. I'm sorry if you're expecting things to look like MS Paint.

2. Your "except logos" line was in reply to gllt's post that SVG is anything but limited. You asked for an SVG that was not a logo, and I provided one. All SVGs show their shape areas as they scale: the point is that they are rasterized at the new size to prevent fringing. The large cat image looks far superior to what you would get by scaling the small cat image up to that size. Try it yourself, and post the results side by side for people to compare. Take the thumbnail and zoom it up to 1280x800, then crop out some identical sections to show us all how right you are.

3. Why are you even posting in this thread? I hunted really hard and aside from "the logo should be a bull," this was your only actual contribution: Image

Why are so many people backseat drivers? Because if they took the steering wheel for real, they would crash the car.

ailurophage ... devourer of cats? Not that it's a word, mind you.

Edit: okay, it -is- in Urban Dictionary.

Someone is having reading comprehension problems, at least when it comes to less-than-outright-said content... ah well, I expected nothing less.
