Posting interval changed to 30 seconds

Post by badinsults »

In order to limit the damage due to spammers, I have changed the time interval between posts to 90 seconds, up from 15 seconds. Sorry for the inconvenience this may bring.

Edit: changed to 30 seconds

is there a delay between PM's that can be sent? you would obviously have to limit the amount of people you can send to at any one time too.

Post editing, how about this?
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

Is affected, which sucks. Surely you can deal with it.

badinsults: One would think that it does bring a good load of inconvenience. A minute and 30 seconds is a surprisingly long time. Let's call this a temporary measure at least. 60 would be better, but since you're the one who made the changes, I'm not going to start to revert those; It doesn't bother me that much
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

Certainly I will bring it down after things calm down. But not back to 15 seconds. It is unfortunate that post editing is included in this limit.

I forgot to mention that there's a mod to not include post editing in the post interval, however, I know, no FTP. meh. and yes Blargg I'll have to learn how to use it and instead of speed posting. proof reading (even though this really hasn't been a problem for me for the most part), and adding more things to the post, I'll just have to think of a lot more at once.

Yes, this board could really use a mod like that. Also, I'm really missing the ability to block certain users when reading threads like I can do on other (emulation) forums.

How about an upgrade within the next 5 years? ;)

I want to add since my thread was locked abruptly, that in addition to the 90-seconds affecting post-editing, the warning you get RESETS the timer. That fucking blows chunks big-time!

90 seconds is a long time. Really annoying when I want to fix some error, but have to wait for a minute and a half.

I see no particular reason why a spammer would want to edit his posts.

Editing and posting aren't dissociated.

Preventing post floods is prioritary over editing comfort for now.

That is all.

What's with the spam all of a sudden anyway? Is it one particular person or what? Where did this shit start?

it was locked because we ALREADY KNOW ABOUT THIS, as seen in this thread.

Not really. :?

in any case, it's still 90 seconds regardless of how many times you hit the submit button (and/or perhaps refresh the page when you're at the you can't post for a shot while screen) :/

Since it seems that the spammer has gone away, I have brought down the interval to 30 seconds. Still higher than it was before, but not as annoying as 90 seconds.
