Earcup Headphone suggestions?

Hey, I currently have 'Phillips SBC HP250' headphones (20$ a few years ago now) and they distort during songs like ones from Sonata Arctica and was wondering what was good in the $70 to $110 ($ AUD) range? I've seen 'these' at various places as well as the lower model and was curious if there any good or not? noise canceling is not needed and I don't need uber awesome bass. I just want clear undistorted quality audio.

I've got the Sony headphones you mentioned in your post.

Very pleased with them. Good overall sound quality, impressive bass. Light and comfortable too. No discomfort with them even after hours of use.

There's a mechanical switch with 2 settings: music and movie. But that's just a noise canceling feature, which is a bit pointless as you'll probably leave it on at all times.

If you're really concerned about sound quality, then I suggest you get something made by Sennheiser or Technics. With headphones you usually get what you pay for.

I should add that I actually own the Sony MDR-V6 if it wasn't implied already. These headphones are commonly seen in music studios and movie sound studios. They focus on accurate reproduction of the sound, not so much big bass and other things seen in most consumer headphones.

The reviews speak for themselves. They are good at blocking outside noise, comfortable, and sound very good. They've been making them for many, many years.

I own the Grado SR80 and am quite pleased with them, I would recommend any pair of grado headphones without hesitation, I made my choice after exhaustive research, and I advise you to go into the head-fi.org forums and search about.

Don't get any other Sony below the $200 price range besides the afromentioned ones, they are known to suck.

I went with Sennheiser HD 215 headphones and they're pretty nice.
