Super Famicom manuals

Post by lkermel »

I've meant to do that for a long time and I've finally started to add game manual scans to my site. Only a few are available so far:

Battle Zeque Ken
Kiki Kaikai
Joe And Mac
Ushio To Tora

The PDFs are located at the bottom of every review page, in the Omake section. I've also been adding manuals for the PC Engine system. Do not hesitate to let me know what you think and also if there's a list of game manuals you'd like to see there first...

"PLEASE CLICK HERE IS VGDEN GAME MENU IS MISSING"

Probably should read:

"Please click here if the VGDEN Game Menu is missing"

The manual scans could probably use a bit of alteration with a sharpen filter.

Also, watermarks = gay.

I think I'll agree with badinsults about the watermarks. Sure, it takes time to search for manuals and scan them, and that 'your work' should be credited and meh, but seriously, now that some (most?) torrent sites allow to download entire sets of game system manuals...NON watermarked makes you look, hrmm...you know, gay.

Good all around content.

Actually, I didn't use to watermark my images. But people happened to directly link to my images and eat up a lot of my bandwidth by doing so - some would even link my images from their Ebay auctions !
So I decided to watermark my images - linked images still eat up some of the bandwidth I pay for every month, but now it also advertises my site.
So now you know :)

you might want a hotlinking countermeasure instead along with unmarked images

No kidding, there are ways you can prevent hotlinking. The watermarks on your images are quite annoying and obvious. Besides, sites like Replacement Docs are going to take them and remove the watermarks anyways, so why bother?

You'll note that on my own site, not a single image has a watermark. I have never had any problems with hotlinking.

Sorry guys but the watermarks are here to stay, at least for the time being.
The manual scans could probably use a bit of alteration with a sharpen filter.
That's a really good point, I've also been thinking about that... they look a bit soft... I'll try to sharpen them up a bit.
Probably should read:
"Please click here if the VGDEN Game Menu is missing"
Thanks for noticing that. I too noticed it couple of years ago but this line is embedded in every page and I never got to change it... :( I'll do it when I switch the site to a more 'dynamic' page generation.

Warner No Mori - Famicom Disk

Battle Cross - Super Famicom

Enjoy :)

>> Bahamut Lagoon was never officially released outside Japan, it was however fan translated and unofficially released in 2002 as a downloadable Rom.

what

also, you didn't mention how your dragons' growth affected their linked party members' abilities which is somewhat of a badass system

or how flaming gay zendak was throughout the damn game which is somewhat less badass

also thumbs up for a game subverting the classic princess trope

Thanks grinvader for pointing out the Bahamut fan translated section - I actually forgot to update this section with my new text. It is now fixed :)

You removed the watermarks as a "Christmas gift"?

Everyone's saying they're gay as fuck, why can't you just take a hint?

But, but, if he doesn't watermark his images, someone will steal them. All that effort gone into scanning and cleaning up the images is gone to waste if nobody knows he's the real person behind the work. Well, if he's in it for the fame.

Seriously, if someone wants to waste their own web space and bandwidth just to rip off your work, so be it. If they're just hotlinking, you can feel free to give hotlinks a nice Goatse or Tubgirl or something equally disgusting. You can even make hotlinks auto expire by using some creative .htaccess and PHP scripting to make hash links that work for between one and two hours, so referral spoofing will fail as well.

Yes, supposedly Digimarc can go through a few iterations of recompression, depending on the watermark strength. Of course, the stronger the watermark, the more visible the noise is.

Nobody cares where they get the images from. If the watermarks are invisible, they really won't care. You can go out of your way and say, "use this stenography tool and you'll see my site is embedded in the image!", and absolutely nobody but you will care.

Also, watermarking is lame as hell.

He really ruined a lot of the story from that game, getting creeped out every time you have to go talk to the old pedophile. Anyway, he needs to be localized a bit more so that non-Japanese can understand his character. I say we change his class to Catholic Priest.
