New video card doesn't want to cooperate
So, I have an eVGA GeForce GTS 250, which runs quite nice for just about anything I throw at it, such as newer games and old ones alike, but are still graphic intensive. These games run fine. What confuses me is how emulators, such as PJ64, Dolphin and PCSX2 run slower than they normally should. I understand very well that these emulators (notably GCN and PS2) will not be able to run at a perfect speed for some time to come. On Dolphin, all the settings reset to default (GPU/SPU/etc) and no matter what I set the configuration to, all the games run at 0.2 (not 2.0) frames per second. PCSX2, with or without hacks runs about half of what it should be (Grandia 3 during battle). It was working fine earlier and I have the most recent drivers 190.38, and they were working fine like I said. Since the issue covers more than one emulator issue, it has to boil down to one thing; what the crap is going on? PJ64 doesn't even show an FPS count and just hangs there.
CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400 (3.00GHz not OCd)
GPU: nVidia GeForce GTS 250
OS: Window 7 RC 7100
DirectX: 11.0
Edit 10:53 PM - GPU temp at 39 degrees C, so, it's definitely not overheating.

Way ahead of you (already made said changes) and well, none of the settings I change make a difference, the FPS count is between 0.2 to 0.4 and when I try to close the window(s) it has the infamous "this program has encountered a problem, blah-blah-blah". So, I don't know what's going on or why non-emulator programs (that use 3D) like Splinter cell work fine. I reset all config files and didn't do anything, either. The GPU core temp is normal, like I said before. This is really weird and annoying, since my computer is more than powerful enough to run these emulators at a very decent speed.

You mean RC 7600 (or whatever it's called)? I don't have an MS license, so, I don't have access to it; I'll have to wait until it comes out in retail. It worked just fine until late afternoon yesterday. Gee, and I thought ATI cards gave me trouble.

I mean the final version. The same version that will be released to the public on the 22nd of October. Release Candidate is not the final product ._.nintendo_nerd wrote:You mean RC 7600 (or whatever it's called)? I have a valid Technet key for Windows 7 Home Premium and have been using it for a while now.

Oh, yeah, I don't have that or the key, so, you mean the RTC version (the retail version before it's actually released to the public). I take it video card issues are but one of many bug fixes in that release, right? Crap, October 22nd seems like a long time, but it really isn't. I'll likely buy it when it comes out, but, what am I supposed to do in the mean time?

Thats what i initially thought too, but it appears to be some fuck up with the Aero support, the moment you do anything ... like 3D flipping or w/e its called the card clocks up/fan spins up.Deathlike2 wrote:It's probably the performance/adaptive profile.. but that doesn't even appear for me in my CP... go figure NVidia.
i think they broke aero low power 3d support or something.

Well, I run XP, and supposedly that option is supposed to be available (like so many other options), but it's not. I may have to use a 3rd party app to do a better job (I haven't paid attention to which happen to be the best).Squall_Leonhart wrote:Thats what i initially thought too, but it appears to be some fuck up with the Aero support, the moment you do anything ... like 3D flipping or w/e its called the card clocks up/fan spins up.Deathlike2 wrote:It's probably the performance/adaptive profile.. but that doesn't even appear for me in my CP... go figure NVidia.

The option is not meant to be present in XP. its a Vista/7 only feature.Deathlike2 wrote:Well, I run XP, and supposedly that option is supposed to be available (like so many other options), but it's not.
