Cave story is coming out for WiiWare (old news, I realize)

Cave Story is apparently being re-released (with a new translation and graphics overhaul) for WiiWare. Like, soon.
Anyone else excited about that?
How do the folks at Aeon Genesis feel about it?

Saw the preview here, the music in the second video should be enough to make your ears bleed.

Luckily they're supposed to have worked on the music since, and even more luckily we're supposed to be able to switch the graphics and sounds to the originals.

And it's been close to release for a while now, hasn't it?

Yeah, they said the music in that video is not ending up in the final release. Can't remember where, probably on the Nicalis blog.

Pixel is redoing all the sprites and AdamAtomic did the backgrounds. I'm sure it will be OK. I don't have a Wii though, and the PC version is enough for me.
Too bad though that the DS-port was (supposedly) canceled because of this.


In related and less old news: La-Mulana Wii is also in development, and also through Nicalis.

Edit: Oh, and in less related, but also even less old news: Spelunky coming to XBLA.


I'm almost starting to want a current gen console. On the other hand, I've been able to play these games for years and for free on the PC, heh.

About the speedup thing, I find weird that Pixel dropped the framerate to 50 for "compatibility". I don't know of a single PC with a 50/60 Hz issue.

I also thought the 'airiness' of quote's jumps was intended.

Yes, and pixel never opposed it (I think he even gave out the source) until about a month before the Wiiware version was official.

well, wouldn't that make sense? I mean, if a version he can make money off of is coming out, he probably wouldn't want a new free version coming out at the same time. That's just common sense.

Who said it doesn't make sense? Still too bad after all the effort that was put into it.
I still don't know if Pixel or Nicalis directly opposed it but it seems it was a major contributing factor.
