Weird spiked/stretched graphics on PS3

Post by ReRuss »

I've noticed sometimes some of the graphics on inFamous will appear stretched, like chairs and tables will be stretched into the air but go away if I get close... I dont get anything like this is any game but inFamous and I'm wondering if it's just a graphical glitch in the game?

Hmm, sounds like the game, but do you have any screenshots available? I'm curious what that looks like.

if it happens agan I'll see about a screenshot

I read of people having spikey graphics and particles on multiple games, but I only get em on infamous... I only hope the gpu aint overheating, but Id expect it to ahow signs in other games Id think if that was the case..

Could be rounding error or something in the specific engine those games are using, like that odd crumpling effect graphics had in some ps1 games. I figure overheating would produce much more bizarre effects.

inFamous is full of glitches. There is 1 when the person that you try to heal or leech dies, your character almost get stuck. Once in the warehouse I missed a spider conduit and It didn't show up. I had to restart the mission...

So if I dont experience anything off in any other game, my GPU should be fine right?

Cuz I've played LittleBigPlanet and Uncharted 1&2 for longer periods of time and noticed nothing wrong with the graphics...

BTW - if anyone wants to add me on PSN feel free to cuz my list is a very short one lmao

PM me your username. i can't remember mine off the top of my head.

i probably don't have any games to play over psn, but at least i'll have a friend. i also don't have a headset for the ps3, as none of my bluetooth headsets can plug into usb.

i have:
uncharted 1
motor storm: pacific rift
folklore
eye of judgement (i have not even tried to learn how to play this yet)
soul caliber IV
DMC 4

my 360 was banned, unfortunately. that's where did most of my online gaming.

the only way i know to sync stuff to the ps3 is to plug them in. i've never found an option to search for discoverable devices

There's a menu for syncing new devices, including one for the bluetooth DVD/Blu-ray remote control.

Under settings of w/e look for manage devices, there you can search for new BT devices, then it'll ask for the pass key, which is normally "0000"

controllers it says you plug them in to sync, but one tip I know of if your controller just wont sync, there's a tiny reset button on the back of the controller... had this issue with my very first PS3, a 20gb clunker

Tuesday (so says UPS) I can upgrade my 60gb PS3 to a 320gb HDD...

fyi sweener - I highly recommend LittleBigPlanet... grab the GOTY and maybe the pirates DLC...

i just spent some quality time in the demo, and i liked it a lot more than i thought i would.

it'll take awhile to get, though. my game spending has gone way down in the last year.

and i had tried to find that menu setting. apparently i didn't look hard enough. i'll finally get to use my bluetooth again. that's nice.

Whoa. That looks really bad.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

crazy. i've never seen anything like that. my ps3 is still sturdy, and my 360 just froze when it died the two times.

i'd start looking at options with sony support.

What surprises me is that the glitch has a shadow. That seems unusual to me.

It looks like you're driving toward an Excitebike ramp from the wrong side.

I think infamous had shadows on its graphic stretches too, I agree with the unusual level of it lmao

I think I'm gonna pick up a slim since I can get 10% off, then start the calls to gamestop about their extended warrenty... hopefully they'll pay the costs of fixing it

nah - texturing, lighting, shadows, etc. happen after the geometry is calculated. yay for real-time shadows!

So I talked with gamestop corporate over the phone, they said a local store can order one with some new crap they have on their system I guess, so I called a local store and they wanted me to come in there...

I get there, whip out my receipt, and he argues cuz the store I got it from, sold it to me as an 80gb... Luckily I took a pic of my serial number on my console and pointed out they never take down the last digits, which in my case was "CECHA01"...

Well I can swap for a 60gb but I have to cover the difference in price which sucks, but I guess beats payin sony $150 to fix it...

I did learn however, they dont go on model numbers EVER... all they do is look at how many USB ports it has, and then they look at the HDD size... Which is sad cuz I had to educate the salesperson (who owns a PS3 yet) on PS3s...
