Xbox360 wired controller help

Post by Kebby129 »

I am currently using version version 1.51. If I do not have my Xbox controller plugged in and hit set keys, then I can set the keys with no problem on the keyboard. However, if I try to set the keys to my controller, ZSNES just freezes. I use Windows 7. Also, if I use other emulators, I can connect my controller without hassle, so it is not the controller. Any help would be appreciated.

When I press Set Keys while the controller is plugged in, it freezes the emulator.

doubtful.

the emulator "freezes" because it's waiting for a keypress or a joystick button press. You should always be able to just tap a random keyboard button to "unfreeze" it.

No, pressing buttons does nothing. The whole emulator just freezes. Like I said, it only does this when the controller is plugged in.

Make sure you are not using any gamepad-keyboard mapping apps.

I do not, but I have spoken to a friend who had the same problem. He said that Joy to key solves the problem.

Oh, yes I did, it worked mostly fine. My only problem was with the joystick.

This is the same old problem ZSNES always had with controllers if it thinks an axis isn't perfectly centered. In this case, either thumbstick or procedural shoulder triggers could be causing it.

I just played through Earthworm Jim the other day using a wired XBOX 360 controller.

It's happening to me and not even "press esc for skip" unfreezes it.

All other apps and emulators work fine with controller.

edit: as Ichinisan suggested, I went to windows control panel to check if all the axis were centered. In fact in one of the controllers it wasn't. So I adjusted it and started zsnes again and it worked. That's the solution. The next day didn't work again, but I just had to go back to control panel and adjust the axis once more.
