Best Free TV Tuner Apps?

Post by Deathlike2 »

I'm just looking for some... DScalar is great for older hardware, but I need a better long term option solution... especially if/when I ever get a digital tv tuner and if I wanted to avoid some of the lame software (ATI's MMC is OK, but it's rather meh).

I've tried MPC (Media Player Classic, not the newer special builds) and that was meh (couldn't figure out how to change channels).
VLC Player was OK, except changing channels required some stupid steps instead of like an up/down or mouse wheel scroll to change channels...

I'm still running XP, but not the MCE versions (and even those are limited to analog tuners).

Mplayer might, if you're willing to deal with that. It uses H and K to change channels, but there's no way to type a channel number in as far as I know, unless the smplayer GUI that comes with mplayer for windows has some way to do so.
Maybe these people were born without that part of their brain that lets you try different things to see if they work better. --Retsupurae

I've yet to figure out how to get the TV Tuner working in SMPlayer in the first place...
