Dragon Quest V - No Bianca...
Hey guys, I've been playing dragon quest v for snes and I need a little bit of help. I got up to the part where Bianca is supposed to join your party and open the watergate. It said that she joined my team, and for some unknown reason, she is nowhere to be found, in my party or in my caravan. Is there a way to use a game genie code or even edit my saved game to put her in? I can't go forward in the game without her in the party...

(preliminary)
Game: Dragon Quest V
System: Win 8(.1 and darn them for .0!)
Emul: ZSNES (of course...) ver. (from state state hex edit "ZSNES Save State File" offset 0x0000): v143
Hex Editor: (own program) and Cygnus (free edition)
File: Z13
Results:
Basic Hex editing and RPG save file stat hunt! Just like swinging in the batting cage (just getting warmed up!)
So...,
line 2CD0 (leading zeros truncated) was found to hold stat info (Health, Magic) for Character #2 (second spot in battle
line up.) OFFSET 2CD3-2CD6 represent HEALTH and MAGIC in that order (little endian- switch the 8-bit words around)
Conclusion: Found the first 'hook' into the save file. Will start from this location to discover more save state info.
Much still to easily discover, now that data changes at these offsets can be observed in the actual game!
Future Goals:
Which offsets to change items, weapons, ect: Unknown, as of yet
How large is the pertinent data chunk: Unknown
Are characters changed by simply changing a number (somewhere in the character data chunk): Unkown, but plan to find out!

Two types of files: 1) .SRM file 2) .Zxx files (Stats, Equipment, Flags, ect.- the fun stuff!)
The bulk of the files created will be the ZSNES save files.
All ZSNES DQ5 save state files are 44f50h in size, or so it looks, so far...
Char Number One (by position, I assume) offset for current HEALTH and MAGIC,
Current (4 bytes, little endian):
2c50:0005
And total HEALTH and MAGIC is Eh positions away at:
2c60:0003
Char #2: 2cd0:0003
Char #3: 2d00:0009
Conclusions: The char block sizes seem to change from char 1 to char 2 to char 3, or it's operator error:)
Next steps: Now that I have buffed/hacked/hex edited a Hercules Merlin (and my kids!), I will search for equipment and event flags. Here comes the best equipment in the game!
