How much RAM do you have?

You might also want to check your so called ROMs with NSRT to make sure they're good.

You should be glad Nach is helping you at all, considering you can't type/spell/do anything worth a damn.

I assume you're using Windows (if not please correct me).

Right click on my computer, choose properties.
A window should pop up where near the top is says how much RAM you have.

To check your ROMs, get NSRT, try this version: http://nsrt.edgeemu.com/forum/download.php?id=1
Let me know what it says about each of your ROMs.

You would go into ZSNES, select Load, browse to your ROM, and double click it.

But based on your initial post, you said you had a ROM too big error, which suggests you don't have enough RAM.

My Computer properties does say how much RAM you have, double check.

Properties should generally always state the processor and RAM. Let's make sure you are going to the right place with two simple steps.
First, open My Computer and right click, hit Properties.
Visual.

Then, look in the lower right part of the box to see your RAM.

In your case, most of that information was provided by the OEMINFO file, which is not present on many systems. Those without it usually will not tell you the processor type, but I think they should still tell you how much memory is available to Windows.

You can also go to start>run>type in dxdiag>press ok. The ram part should be next to memory. Example

Yes. "RAM" is an acronym meaning "Random Access Memory". They say that RAM can be accessed "at random" because the system can read or write different parts of it that are not necessarily in order. For instance, you have several programs running at the same time using different amounts of memory and accessing different areas.

A mechanical tape drive is said to me sequential access, although calling a tape cassette "memory" instead of "storage" would be a misnomer.

RAM is electrical and loses it's contents when the power is discontinued. This is why your computer has to read from the hard drive into memory when you turn it on. This is also why you have to save documents that are being worked on in memory. Each program that is "running" is loaded into memory. When you save a file, it is written to your hard drive, which uses mechanical storage that does not disappear when you turn off the computer.

Anyway, 512MB is more than enough :?

His comp is probably so full of spyware and adware he doesn't have enough ram to run zsnesw.

Probably so...like 90% of other novices who can't tell the difference beween a harmless data file and an executable file.

I blame Microsoft. ;)

If we were on the old board, I'd have advised the good old
go to Start -> Run -> "command" and then type 'format c:' without the quote marks
