General NES Repair

Post by alexz721 »

So my friend has an NES whose video no longer works, but audio plays fine. I know most NES machines fell victim to the poor 72-pin connector and that it's relatively easy to repair or replace, but her problem doesn't seem to exactly match up with that diagnosis. Also, I know that corrosion, dust, or just plain dirty cartridges could contribute to this. Problem is, I don't know the exact problem because I haven't seen the thing myself, so I'm trying to guess. Anyone have any insights?

Is this through RF or composite video/separate audio out?
Maybe these people were born without that part of their brain that lets you try different things to see if they work better. --Retsupurae

Both get the same result. Power button doesn't blink, audio is fine, video is a solid color, usually peach or black (no blue).
