Yeah, I have to agree with you.

What is the matter, people do not appreciate the hard work they've done so far (since, at one point it looked like SO was never going to get translated) and always ask for Final versions? It's not like there are huge chunks of untranslated dialogue or anything.

Hell, it's called the Final Version 1.0 (although supposedly one day there will be a 2.0 Final). I beat the game well before that version came out, and had no problems. *Concurs with Nightcrawler and Agozer*

How complete "is" the SO translation? I mean, what is there missing from it exactly?
I've been meaning to try out SO for a long time, but I never was clear on this.
I do however, get the impression for all intents and purposes it's a "complete" translation. Is that right?

And, IIRC, Tomato said that the text that was made into the patch was not as polished as he would like it to be, so he wanted it to polish it some more.

The Star Ocean translation is better than nothing. Just enjoy it as it is.

Cidolfas was in charge of all the final polishing, though I do feel we kept too close to the original. But I'm still 100% OK with leaving it as it is. Speaking of the home page, someone needs to update the link to the Dejap forum on the Dejap site. It now takes you to the development forum, which explains why there have been a couple of Dejap related posts there.

I actually have a PHP system made for people to record their voice clips and upload them. However, there's a recent bug discovered in the way Apache treats PHP scripts which makes it easy for a hacker to delete any file that PHP has access to. I need to find some kind of workaround that before I can put it up (for stuff besides the voice work, too).

Well, PHP can't create a file unless it has write permission to a directory.
Once PHP has write access to the directory...

Exactly. -_- There's a large chunk of RPGClassics.com that relies on that as well. We need to find some way to protect against it or the entire kit and caboodle is useless.

I haven't played through the Star Ocean patch, but I did play through Tales of Phantasia and thought a few too many liberties were taken there.

So, I wouldn't worry too much about sticking closer to the original.
TOP's script came out a little over the top as opposed to a professional script in my opinion, but of course TOP's script was done in an uncontrolled non corporate enviroment, so that's to be expected I guess.
