Game can't recognize gamepad, ZSNES can? [Solved]

Post by informalnarwhals »

I have a PS3 controller set-up with Motioninjoy, set to ps1/ps2 (neither seem to change anything), and ZSNES can detect it and all the buttons just fine. BUT, when I run a game (only have Clock Tower and Inspector Gadget, but same results), nothing happens using the controller. Keyboard works fine, but Id really prefer controller use. Any one have an idea as to why this is happening? Is it a ZSNES or Motioninjoy setting I should be changing?

what do you mean, zsnes can detect it - are you able to configure the controller within zsnes?
Why yes, my shift key *IS* broken.

once you've configured the controller, are you still able to use the keyboard?

Have you clicked 'set' before 'set keys' ?

Code: Select all

<jmr> bsnes has the most accurate wiki page but it takes forever to load (or something)

Wait, the thread starter can change the thread name after it gets going?
That's... abusable.

DirectInput represents all bits, not just powers of 2 in an axis.

The thread name is the first post's subject, so anyone who can edit that can change it.
And pretty much everything's abusable, but we have a nice category for people who need brain diapers.

To be fair, it SHOULDN'T have mattered, as ZSNES Win is "keyboard/joystick" or "none", and my understanding is he was remapping #1, not mapping another controller.

The set button is a holdover from the program's MS-DOS history that doesn't really have much use these days other than to confuse people mapping one of the extra gamepads.
