Hi I downloaded the Gnu/Linux version os Zsnes 1.35 and installed it following the instructions contained in the install.txt. First I unpacked the tar.gz file with tar -zvfx command and after that I went to the src directory and used the commands: ./configure && gmake && gmake install.
This compiled the zsnes but now it isn't working, or at least I don't know how to use it.
When I type zsnes on the Konsole, it shows the following message to me:
ZSNES v1.35 (c) 1997-2002, ZSNES Team (zsKnight & _Demo_)
Be sure to check http://www.zsnes.com/ for the latest version.
Please report crashes to zsnes-devel@lists.sourceforge.net.

.....and opens a weird windows whose almost all the left half is lilac. This lilac part is the menu and if I am not wrong is close to equal compared to the WIndows version. But is totally strange, besides being lilac it's almost impossible to read something, the letters are very blured
. There is a sub menu opened with the load option select with a green band,, and a little window opened ( a windows from the program contained in the big window from the operating system) saying a lot things that I can't read with the exception of the last line that probably says: 'Press "1" to continue'.
When I try to use the mouse cursor in one of the options of the menu, it desappears and no keyboard key from my keyboard does something. What I am doing wrong or is the program that has some kind of problem?
Is Zsnes 1.35 working on my Fedora Core 2 box?

As a general note, people on this board will not help unless you are running the newest version. With luck this problem is fixed in a newer version.
Edit: You will want to go here, download the source of the newest WIP and compile.

First off, like megabyte said, hardly anyone is gonna help you if you use such an old version. to get te latest version, which i HIGHLY suggest (many, many new features and fixes in 1.42 since 1.35), either download the 1.42 source from http://www.zsnes.com, or get the latest CVS source from the SourceForge CVS repository (http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=19677).
the error you reported sounds incredibly similar to a bug in windows due to outdated nvidia drivers (might happen on ati as well). make sure you have the latest nvidia drivers from http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux.html (or from https://support.ati.com/ics/support/KBA ... ionID=3380 if you have an ATI card). its a good idea to have the most updated video card drivers anyway.
hope this helps, and please feel free to ask more questions once you have updated!

I was trying the 1.35 version because I wanted to know how was an older version os Zsnes (BTW this version was released when?) But if it is so inferior to the newer version I will install it.
But the last post gave me a good idea about what can be the problem. I wasn't able to complete the installation of the nVidia drives, probably due to some conflict with Mesa libraries, can be this the source of the problems, right?. And one more thing: Which are the archives of Zsnes that had been spread through the system when I installed Zsnes? I would like to know to be able to remove them before removing the Zsnes directory and conclude the uninstalling before start to install the newer version
