another random-issue

Post by Kyatto »

I really enjoy using Zsnes. On two different systems actually. But i use a controller on the pc, which is a bit weird.
It's an "MTlogic" with 6 keys and several turbo-keys. It's type is MT813, which is also a type of minidisc from Sharp. I can't remember where i bought it, but it didn't came with drivers. I can use all keys with the normal WindowsXP standard 6key-controller. It's connected through a gameport, not USB. I can't find drivers on the internet (not through google or sites like driverguide). I use Zsnes 1.36, Windows XP SP2.

It just randomly pulls to the left, right or bottom. So when i try to do a Blitz-combo in FF6, it usually fails, while the character Sabin is my favorite FF6-character.

I know one of the solutions is to buy a new 'real' controller like Logitech or Microsoft, but i hate to spend money. Anyone got an idea?

EDIT: I 'upgrade' to Zsnes 1.42 which doesn't help.
When i try to calibrate the controller, the cursor of the controller is flying randomly over the field. When i reboot, everything is normal again and i start playing with the Zsnes untill everything messes up again and i reboot again.

So this is a windows/controller problem and doesn't have anything to do with Zsnes.

Try deleting the zsnesw.cfg and zguicfgw.dat files.
Try out CCleaner and other free software at Piriform

Yes, quite a few problems in ZSNES can be solved by deleting the cfg files.

actually, it seems it works.
Can you also explain why this solution works?

Because of Zsnes' core updates. Those reflect back to the cfg files, so old files do not work well with the "new" core.

And simply because we save/load more and more variables. Loading another variable from an old config file usually causes much havoc.

uhm.. it returned, and it's worse than ever! even after deleting the CFG-file ! now what? re-install the keypadthing? Even when i reboot (which i did first when it occured) it's still freaked out! it goes randomly from left to right, up and down! not the other buttons, just the up/down/left/right.

I blame your lack of drivers.
Gameport pads *require* drivers.
