Multiple windows

Post by Lordlaxative »

Me and my friend both want to play ChronoTrigger. And since the game is not two players, I was wondering if with ZSNES you can open up two windows of the same game so we could both play (me with a controller, him with the computer). I know I was able to do this with an old gameboy emulator, so I was wondering if it would work on this emulator. If not is there an SNES emulator that can do this? Thanks in advance.

No. It wouldn't work, nor will it be implemented.

Besides, Chrono Trigger is a single player game.

Why can't you just pass one controller back and forth, or assign both the keyboard and joystick to controll the game?

If he's talking about playing two simultaneous instances of ZSNES independantly, it's possible. There is an option in the GUI to allow multiple instances.

I suspect running more than one instance will cause a slow down
What?

I suspect that running multiple windows on the same machine would cause multiple sound-sources playing at the same time wich would destroy the fun in playing a game...

Oh it does? But wouldn't that have quite an impact on performance?

I already ran three Secret of Mana at the same time, to check movie 'random' reproduction.
I got 3 * 30 FPS, which is relatively good (imo) for a P4 1.8GH.

I think above 2.5GHz comps can eat 2 zsnes 60/60.

You can run 2 instances of zsnes, but the way windows work, only 1 will be able to recieve input.

So is there any way we could both be playing different instances of the same game at the same time?

I guess not. Read what megabyte posted.

I think gamepad input works when the window is not selected.
