Favorite Dejap translation?

Post by MorteTheSkull »

What's everyone's favorite translation by dejap? Mine is probably Tales of Phantasia, but I haven't played too far into Star Ocean.

I'd probably have to say ToP as well. Star Ocean and Bahamut Lagoon both owned also, but Tales of Phantasia was the best, IMO.
Everything I say is a lie.

For those of you who have played through DQ5, did you also try out Byuu's patch?

If so, what were your thoughts on both?

I never played DEJAP's patch, only BYUU's.
It was pretty great. I noticed tht in certain scenes, the text sorta overlapped itself, but that didn't happen often.

ToP kicked as and they actually finished it, which is more than can be said for Star Ocean.

Star Ocean is 99.9% complete. The only thing left, pretty much, was the Yes/No menus. You're welcome to do them yourself, but don't bitch about a FREE translation which took many, many hours of work on the part of a bunch of different people and which is still better quality than Wild ARMs: Alter Code F.

I very well might attempt that.
Actually, I was considering maybe mucking around with the menu system a bit, doubling the scroll length and splurging for one line per item. I'd want to okay it with Dark Force first, though.

I can try contacting him, I guess, though I haven't seen him in a long while. I doubt he'd have a problem with you doing the Yes/No menus though. 8-)

The problem with what you want to do with the menus is that there are so many items (the menu's already huge) that making the menu twice as long would mean twice as long to find the item you want. I think that disadvantage might outweigh the advantage of seeing the full item name.

What might be better IMO is doing a Tales of Destiny and having a shortened item name listed on the menu while the full name is shown in the description. I seem to recall recommending that to DF, though, and I think he didn't like the idea.

In any case, before you bug yourself with this, WHAT HAPPENED TO SOBS? >_<

Come to think of it, you haven't made an update since November... real life finally caught up with you? ^^;

SOBS is still happening, just slowly D:

And while real life's kind of caught up with me, it's more that I've just got a lot of stuff that I'm sitting on. There's been progress, some. Major progress in a few cases. I just haven't had the time to update about it.

Working on a new design for agtp in general. I'm hoping it'll help news get posted faster.

Bahamut Lagoon. I really like that game. Happy dejap brought it into the English realm.

I wonder how they'll play that scene in the 'official' translation coming out for the gba next month.

Simple. They'll go with the original script, which doesn't have the 'arche fucks like a tiger' crap.

ToP.

The boat scene was classic., but I loved that game from the begining.

I think ToP has become my #2 favorite RPG of all the RPGs I've played thus far

If I'm not mistaken, it was something to the extent of "hard to quite down", which was still supposed to be alluding to her being wild in bed (Dejap just made this more obvious).

And even then, the official US script will probably change it to something like "parties like an animal" or something that makes less of an allusion to sex.
