Post by magicmoped »

The .bin is raw movie data. You need to convert it a video format of your choice.

With a tool such as VirtualDub. http://www.doom9.org should help you with that program (and any other converting/video editing problem you might have for that matter).

I have virtualdub and adobe premiere pro2. Neither can open a .bin file. Changing the extension doesnt help either.

...Hm. I could have sworn that VirtualDub can handle raw files.

Well, then you have to looks for some other program that can work with raw data.

The video recording option in ZSNES will see improvements in the future.

MEncoder?

Nach may have some input on this, since he wrote that feature.

yea searching via google doesnt help as it only shows what a raw file is or its to do with particular cameras etc. it never tells of a program that can simply convert the godforsaken filetype to a known filetype.

if you dont like it then use fraps instead... i havnt actually tried it but it seems like it would work.

You can use mencoder to convert it to another format. See mplayerhq.hu.+

ill give mencoder another go... but im after something with a gui... not a command prompt. (i also hate programes that require commands to be passed to them.)

does anyone know how to setup mencoder to work? (such as switches etc.)

edit: this is retarded i seriously hate mencoder... if there is a program witch does the encoding of raw files while using a gui could someone list one.

With power (MEncoder) comes complexity.

just noticed the music/sound fx are stored in a seperate file to the bin file. also i noticed how crap it sounds when played compared to when actually playing the game in zsnes.

edit again: fraps is retarded... fraps v2.72 build 5535

it runs but doesnt do anything meaning the hotkeys to use any of its parts are screwed they dont work at all, i can change the hotkeys but there is still no effect when i use them.

If you can't read the mencoder manual, don't expect us to help.
We're not gonna do it for you.

If you hate CL apps, tough luck. Code your own mencoder frontend.

We have a thread on how to do this properly.
Also, hopefully within a week, my AVI library should be ready.

If you don't set your sound to 32000Hz and Stereo, it won't output correctly. If you do output it correctly, it sounds better than ZSNES does.

also what do you mean by avi library? do you mean...

a) a library of avi files to download

or

b) a dll file? (codec/encoder/decoder [a / means or])

if its b) then i would almost jump for joy

The forum search is a brilliant feature of phpBB2. I suggest you use it.

Neither, and both would be illogical.

I don't think he knows what "library" means in a development environment, so he was just making guesses based on what he knows library does mean.

I think you're retarded, don't be lazy and RTFM. What's the difference between clicking a checkbox with the option you want or typing -option ? Anyway, I salute the patience of devs and regulars who answer retarded questions like that on a daily basis

GUIs are not really important if the functionality is still there and exposable. The fact that the command line is downplayed since Win2k (and moreso XP). In any case, of course a frontend/GUI should be implemented.. but I do think it can't hurt for people to spend a little time learning the command line. I'd swear you gain so much more by taking some extra time to learn some things...

Sometimes I'd swear I'm wasting my time with certain people..
the link wrote:In computer science, a library is a collection of subprograms used to develop software. Libraries contain "helper" code and data, which provide services to independent programs.
If you spent time at least reading the first paragraph.. you'd understand that Nach isn't making a "dll" file as you are claiming... he's writing code in use for ZMV/AVI conversion I believe (though I'm not entirely sure)

I'm not going to waste further time explaining this to you.

A library in the development context is a group of functions necessary to write programs that perform a given task. Libraries generally end in .so [shared objects; Linux/BSD, includes MinGW despite it being a Windows compiler] or .lib [Microsoft Visual Studio].

In this case, an AVI library is a library that allows one to write programs that do things to AVI files.
