1) Make sure you hit the "Add" button when you enter the codes in.. otherwise they will not work.

2) Depending on the version of the game, some codes just don't work on a particular version (for example, FF3 has two versions.. most Game Genie codes were designed for 1.0). Don't bother asking us on how to acquire the different versions of a game.

3) Depending on the type of game (particularly RPGs), some codes involve you starting a new game.

What games are you using the Game Genie codes on? One example please (the code itself and its supposed effect)

1st code works in a non-battle situation
2nd code works in a non-battle situation
3rd code works

In sum, you are probably using the 1.1 version of the game.

When people list cheat codes on a website, I wish they would say when it would work...

Well, that shouldn't be happening... did you recently update ZSNES? What version of ZSNES are you using anyways?
who has a solution for my problem ?!?! PLEASEEEE
1) You find the 1.0 version of the ROMs... not all ROMs have two versions (1.0 and 1.1), but sometimes they are different by location... (US release vs a European release for example).. Use NSRT to identify the ROM versions... I cannot help you further on this.

2) Learn how to create Game Genie codes for that specific version of the ROM you have... that I cannot help you there since I don't have experience/don't care for Game Genie codes that make Mystic Quest even easier (especially when it is hard to lose).

3) If you have recently updated ZSNES (latest version is 1.42), remove all the .cfg+.dat files in the ZSNES folder and see if that helps.

In Mystic Quest, if both party members die, the game asks to Try Again... so you restart the battle like you've just arrived there for the first time... though there is a temporary attack penalty that is incurred for the hero for doing so (switching weapons stop it from occuring, I don't know why it happens in the first place)... as I said.. you can't lose especially when the boss generally has some sort of elemental weakness.

The site called Game Genie Code Creator's Club used to be a great place to get official and unofficial codes from. I think it got pulled or moved to another site's hosting. Gamewinners.com and gamefaqs still have a lot of those codes however.

robsgaming is another excellent site for cheats/codes/game genie codes/etc.

especially for old systems like nintendo 8-bit and snes 16-bit.
