So which text editor do you use ?

Just thought I'd ask what text editor(s) you use on a daily basis.

I usually use Nano or kate in Linux, ee in freebsd, and on windows, I use notepad.

EDIT: Other option added.

you are ignoring the important "Other" category

Afterall, I use wordpad in Windows, kwrite/gwrite in Linux when I'm not in the console, TextEdit in OS X, and nano when im in the console in *nix

Most of those are not choices

I intentionally left wordpad.exe out because it is (sort of) like a word processing program.

That said, we probably should extend the list to winword.exe (MS Word) or open office's processor, and/or the one which comes with Damn Small Linux.

Or not.

I've never used OS X fulltime either.

editor^2, cuz has more features than notepad, yet it seems even more lightweight.

For programming, crimson editor. Except c (code::blocks), c++ (code::blocks), JASS (jasscraft) and xhtml/css (dreamweaver, html beauty)

used to use nedit obsessively on solaris, and edit or rhide in dos.

nowadays, it would probably be notepad or textpad in windows, or kate in linux.

Works Word Processor. Came with my first computer, still use it when I need something with a spell checker. Otherwise, Notepad.

I use Notepad++ on Windows, and Gedit/Kate on Linux.

If I'm doing a quick edit on the command-line, I use nano.

vim for great justice.

Hex editing mode, regular expressions search and replace, builtin grep, syntax highlighting, spell checking, man page lookup for the word under the cursor, plus all kinds of neat features for code editing; I recently discovered the ability to jump to the definition of the symbol under the cursor in C/C++ code.

Notepad on Windows, Kate on Linux. For those quick things I gotta remember. For anything else, there's Masterca....errr, whatever fills the need.

Emacs can do all and more... if you find how to do it.

Usually requires 3+ limbs, or 12+ fingers, whichever occurs first. :p

Textpad in Windows.

Kate in KDE.

Nano in Linux CLI. Most of my linux work is at the CLI in a terminal window or via Putty anyway.
