Not quite sure how and even if you can use the mouse for mario paint, if you can does anyone mind telling me how its done?

press '7' on your keyboard.
when done press '6' to reset to defaults.

That's not quite true in 1.50. Config->Devices. Select Mouse for Port 2 (that is what Mario Paint expects).
