But in that case, we would only have smart posts. What's the fun in that?!Metatron wrote:If only it were possible to just ban certain people (ie, whateverlejano) from speaking on such things, if only because they are fucking retarded and them spreading their stupidity would be classified as a crime against humanity itself.

i love it when self styled foreigner "experts" on the US trash talk its political system while at the same time knowing nothing of the bill of rights. double plus when their own country offers nowhere near the level of rights that the america has.
america has suddenly become of the poster child of everything that is wrong with the world.

Believe me, it wasn't sudden.lockharte wrote:i love it when self styled foreigner "experts" on the US trash talk its political system while at the same time knowing nothing of the bill of rights. double plus when their own country offers nowhere near the level of rights that the america has.

How, exactly, is that article even remotely offensive or something worthy of an Editor (read: someone that gets PAID to have an opinion), NOT a reporter, getting fired?
It isn't and isn't.
You're an idiot, Cornhole Joe.
I guess that's the perception difference gained between living in a third world country and a first world country.
If you were in the U.S., Canada, France, Britain... a host of others... that's just par for the course.

I actually thought it was an extremely well written and thought out article. If anyone would get fired it would be because the article is not in the spirit of the paper. However, while I do not know the LA Times, considering its location, I'd be more likely to believe that the article fits in quite well with the rest of the paper.
In short, the writer would be fired only if there was some sort of ban on criticism in the US. However, since we (meaning most of us under "normal" conditions... since often those who are being attacked will argue differently, no matter which side they are on) believe that criticism is necessary for effective government, that is usually not the case, and when it is, it's usually fairly short lived legislation.
