Finality Revoked

I know I had declared my previous release to likely be the last one, but it is now officially stated otherwise. :P Major release here; there are more changes in this revision than there were in all of the others combined. http://rapidshare.de/files/2274115/ASQ_PAL6.zip.html From the Readme: Here lie...

Are you exiting ZSNES with ALT-F4?
If so then it is a problem with the config files not being saved.
No, I've just been using the 'X' in the corner or 'Quit' from the menu. All of the other preferences (that I change) are being saved anyway.

'Save Win Positns' checkbox is marked opposite of when it should be; in the latest CVS, it is "enabled" by default. I'm not sure which option this is. If you can figure out which option that checkbox affects, I'll look at it. Its the option which will save the location of the ZSNES window...

Relevant off-topic information: There are some bugs with the new config file. Preferences for the following options don't get saved/reloaded when ZSNES is restarted: 'Snapshot' key, 'SRAM Check+Save', 'Start at Latest Save', and possibly others (I only noticed these because I use them). 'Save Win Po...

AspiringSquire, when do you expect your palette to be complete? As far as I can tell, the current version should be the last revision. I've swapped each of the colors that (to me) was noticeably off, corrected every color for the appropriate relative brightness, and fixed my own mistakes along the ...

To my knowledge current as of a few months ago. NO ONE is working on Tactics Ogre at present time. Not DeJap, and not LordTech. Is anyone planning to apply the official translation to the SNES ROM, though? (Or have they done it already?) That would overall be better than playing the PS1 port of the...

New version: ASQ_PAL5.zip

See it for yourself:
http://rapidshare.de/files/2135771/ASQ_PAL5.zip.html

Only the one color change: the dark grey to quasi-black. Tell me if it's better, what it affects, etc.

Enjoy.

EDIT: New zip (and link) due to a minor fix in the Readme.

Don't disable MMX. You'd only want to do that if you don't have a MMX-compliant cpu, which is already detected on startup. Really. We should get rid of this option. The DOS version of ZSNES doesn't seem to automatically/correctly detect the non-MMX capabilities of my old PC. It can't switch to a VE...

On a somewhat related note...
Could PNG please be made the default format for snapshots? It's bothersome to switch that option with every update of ZSNES, especially since PNG is clearly the better of the two choices.

I think it may make all the difference if you adjust the brightness of your monitor. TVs are usually set to a higher brightness than PC monitors, so most of the colors may seem a bit darker, or too "rich".

This is pretty cool work. Maybe you should have it hosted on Zophar, and other emu sites? Or maybe even get in contact with NES emu developers and have the pallette included in their emulators? Thanks, kieran. :) That would be mighty fine, but how would they be convinced to host it or include it in...

Those all look great except for the status menu back color in chrystalis, for some reason it seems off, I can try and load it up on my NES and compare it if youd like. Visual Boy Advance emulator (GBA) uses an EXCELLENT savestate set up where all of the savestate positions are unique to each game you play ....lots of potential for many different save positions per game. Better than the best! (of my own previous palettes) http://rapidshare.de/files/1922528/ASQ_PAL4.zip.html Hearkening back to my original concept of only using colors from BMF's palettes, this version replaces the two darker blue-greens yet again. I still use the DOS port. If for some reason the DOS binaries aren't released anymore, the last one will be my treasure. So, my point is, I like DOS. Period. I feel pretty much the same way. The DOS port was the original, the only ZSNES, and I've been using it since before the Windows version of ZS...

This must be intended for doing speed-run movies (or at least could serve a very useful purpose for them).
